Introducing our Founding CHA Hub Partner

CHA and Westpac New Zealand: a partnership to help more New Zealanders into homes

Westpac New Zealand announces its founding partnership with Community Housing Aotearoa (CHA), committing to support the CHA HUB's development over the next 2–3 years. Westpac has committed to increase affordable housing lending to at least $1 billion by September 2027, building on work with community housing providers including Māori and iwi organisations supporting innovative pathways through Shared Equity and Secure Home Leasehold programmes. These solutions have enabled more than 700 families to secure their own homes, with potential for greater impact through sector collaboration.

The partnership combines CHA's on-the-ground insights with Westpac's financial expertise to deliver practical, scalable housing solutions. Westpac acknowledges NZ Housing Foundation and Queenstown Lakes Community Housing Trust for their generosity in sharing programmes and knowledge to support sector growth. CHA welcomes Westpac's commitment and financial support, which will enable development of essential toolsets, research, and insights to support community housing providers and raise awareness of housing challenges across Aotearoa. The partnership embodies community-led solutions and collaborative commitment to wellbeing for all New Zealanders.
